My name is Katherine Michniewicz, wife, mother, designer and seamstress in California.  I started Happy Chance Shop almost five years ago as a fun way to be creative in my spare time.  I started selling some of them on ETSY and EBAY and received positive feedbacks and encouragement from my clients!  To date, I've had clients from an exclusive boutique in Los Angeles, movie studios, photoshoots to re-enactors across the globe.

 

I love dressing up for costume events and going to the Renaissance Faire, ComiCon, Regency tea venues, etc..  I love all the eras especially Renaissance, 18th Century, Regency dresses, Victorian, & 50's clothing.  But I couldn't just stop there and love exploring Fantasy, Steampunk and movie reproductions.  I typically draft my own patterns but also purchase patterns at the local fabric stores but end up tweaking most of them.  The goal is to have a beautiful product!

I have been sewing since I was 15 years old and mostly self-taught.  Part of the joy I get from sewing and creating something is figuring out how to make a certain outfit using the same techniques used back then, and maybe tweaking it so it's easier to put on.  Sewing is such a joy for me and I hope this site inspires you to find your creative inner talent and run with it!
